The Shia Sasane-illustrated sequel light novel series’ manga adaptation began its publication in the same magazine on December 25, 2021. The anime television series based on Lerche premiered in 2017. After the second season’s July 4, 2022 premiere, a third will start in 2023.
PLOT
From the outside, Koudo Ikusei Senior High School seems to be a utopia. The students’ degree of freedom is exceptional and highly regarded throughout Japan. But the reality is far from ideal. After being ranked in order of merit, only the top four classes—A through D—receive preferential treatment.
Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is enrolled in Class D, which is designated for the worst students at the institution. In Class D, he encounters the awkward Suzune Horikita, who wishes to move all the way up to Class A because she believes she was placed there by mistake, and the outgoing class hero Kikyou Kushida, who desires to make as many friends as possible.
Class membership is permanent, but class rankings are not. Students in lower-ranked courses have the opportunity to advance if they outperform those in higher-ranked classes. In Class D, there are no limitations on how one can advance. Can they succeed at this demanding school despite the obstacles?
