About Kengan Omega
Yabako Sandrovich and Daromeon have worked together in Japan to create the manga series Kengan Ashura. It was serialised from April 2012 to August 2018 on the Ura Sunday website of Shogakukan; the chapter summaries were collected into 27 tankbon volumes.
A follow-up called Kengan Omega started filming in January 2019. Based on the plot of the book, an original net animation (ONA) anime series was produced. In July 2019, the first 12-episode segment debuted on Netflix. The second 12-episode part was released in October 2019.
Since Japan’s Edo era, gladiator arenas have existed in various forms all over the world. Gladiators are employed by wealthy businesspeople and traders to engage in unarmed combat where the victor takes all. These contests are known as Kengan. Yamashita Kazuo, a typical Japanese salaryman working for the Nogi Group, witnesses an altercation in an alley. Nogi Hideki had seen Tokita “Ashura” Ohma, who had beaten their previous fighter, during the street brawl.
Ohma enters these arenas only to quickly eliminate his opponents, so Kazuo is forced to control him. Hideki recognises his amazing capacity to vanquish foes and extends an invitation for him to compete in the Kengan Annihilation Tournament.
The winner of this competition will have great power and prestige when appointed chairman of the Kengan Association. Ohma is tested throughout the competition as his enigmatic past resurfaces, and Kazuo struggles to control Ohma and determine why he was initially invited to this tournament.
